"I visited Livingstone and stayed for three months in 2006. African Horizons organised all my activities and my program and I can safely say I had the best 3 months of my life. African Horizons were exceptional in ensuring everything ran smoothly for me. I left 100% satisfied and recommend them to all my friends and will always continue to do so. "During the 2003-2004 school year, I was given the opportunity to run a community service trip to Africa for students at the high school where I taught.  I immediately contacted Richard Sheppard with African Horizons to organize this trip for me.  Having lived in Zambia myself from 1996- 1998, I felt confident that his company would be best suited to do the job.  We outlined a plan of fun as well as educational activities for the first few days in Cape Town and Livingstone such as hiking Table Mountain, visiting Robben Island, rafting the Zambezi, viewing the Victoria Falls, etc.  After this exciting initiation to Africa, Richard then arranged for my students to rebuild a basketball court for a school run by the Salvation Army in a remote area of Zambia as a service project.  The students could relate very easily to this type of project, and they were enthusiastic to participate.  They worked side by side with the local students and were able to play them in basketball after the project was finished.  The final part of the trip consisted of spending five days in the Lower Zambezi river valley on safari.  The students learned to appreciate nature and animal life as they went on game drives and on canoe and fishing trips.  They were in complete awe of their wild surroundings.  As a teacher it was satisfying to see my students step out of their comfort zone and come to grips with the reality of life outside of their middle to upper class American background.  African Horizons did an outstanding job of providing a variety of activities that would appeal to everyone and making sure that the trip went smoothly.  In particular my students were very impressed with Richard and his knowledge of the region.  I look forward to using his organization Volunteer Zambia for my next community service trip. "
